Having problems with your radiator not heating up?
There are few worse ways to start your day than a cold shower or stepping out of a warm shower into a cold bathroom.
There are several possible reasons why your bathroom radiator is not getting hot.
Here are some of the most common causes:
Airlock in the radiator:
Air bubbles can become trapped in the radiator, preventing hot water from circulating and heating up the radiator. To fix this issue, you can bleed the radiator by using a radiator key to open the valve at the top of the radiator and allowing the air to escape. Once all the air has been released, water should start to flow into the radiator, and it should begin to heat up.
Blockage in the radiator:
If there is a blockage in the radiator, such as rust or debris, water may not be able to circulate properly, which can prevent the radiator from getting hot. To fix this issue, you may need to flush the radiator or have it professionally cleaned.
However, it may work out more economical to replace, with an energy efficient, cost-effective new radiator.
Thermostat issue:
If the thermostat on the radiator is not working properly, it may not be allowing hot water to flow through the radiator. You can test the thermostat by turning up the temperature and checking if the radiator gets hot. If it doesn't, you may need to replace the thermostat.
Issues with the central heating system:
If your entire central heating system is not working correctly, it can prevent the radiator from getting hot. This could be caused by a faulty boiler, a broken pump, or a malfunctioning valve. If you suspect this is the case, it's best to call a professional plumber or heating engineer to diagnose and fix the problem.
In any case, if you are unsure about what is causing your bathroom radiator to not get hot, it's always best to consult with a professional plumber or heating engineer who can diagnose the problem and provide appropriate solutions.
